Short version: there are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no
database of users. We could not identify you if we wanted to.
What stays in your browser
Your connection results, the services you have chosen to watch, your group's share codes
and their names all live in your browser's local storage. They are never transmitted to us.
Clearing them is a single button — Forget everything — and it is genuinely everything.
What reaches our server
The connection check. To measure your line we have to send traffic to it, so
during a check your browser talks to our Cloudflare Worker. We read the edge location
serving you and the network your traffic arrives on — that is how the site can tell you
"your edge is ATL" and name your provider. It is used to compute your result and is not
stored.
The packet loss test. It is the one measurement here that cannot be done
over ordinary web traffic — loss is invisible to anything running on TCP, because TCP
quietly resends what it drops. So that test relays real UDP packets through Cloudflare's
TURN service, which means Cloudflare relays them the same way it already serves every
other byte of this site. The packets carry a counter and nothing else — 1200 of them over
eight seconds, and nothing about them is kept. It runs as the last step of the connection
check, so it happens whenever you run a check and never on its own. On a network that
blocks UDP it cannot run at all, and the result says so rather than reporting a zero.
Ordinary web requests. Cloudflare handles them and keeps its own operational
logs, as any host does.
Fonts. Loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google sees the request. This is the
one third party in the page, and we would like to remove it.
Share codes
A code like USE-U18-J4-B22-P500-AS701-M3 contains your region, upload,
jitter, latency under load, plan speed, network operator, and whether the numbers were
measured or typed. It contains no name, no address and no identifier. It is generated in
your browser and only goes anywhere if you send it to someone.
What we do not do
No advertising or analytics scripts. No cookies for tracking. No selling anything to
anyone, because there is nothing to sell.
